The Australian Rocketry Association Inc. The Pioneers Of Rocketry In Australia !!

The Australian Rocketry Association Inc. provides the safe education and certification in High, Mid & Low power rocketry throughout Australia. Our members & sections have for many years worked closely with Safework Australia & CASA to provide all Australians of all ages with the safest possible ways to enjoy this wonderful hobby.

Meanwhile John Connolly of NASA & ISU is assembling a largely exaggerated example of what everyone is going to be building.

Who We Are

Formed in 1998 the Australian Rocketry Association Inc was created to cater for the ever increasing interest in model rocketry throughout Australia. Having no current Australian based codes or regulations in regards to model rocketry the ARA Inc set fourth working with Safework Australia, CASA and other Organizations to create the first Australian based model rocketry user manual of safety codes and guidelines which was called the Blue Book. The Blue Book would be the go to in regards to rocketry in Australia and is still used to this day by not only the ARA Inc but many other regulatory organizations in regards to model rocketry use and safety. As the Blue Book was being created the ARA Inc also created their own certification procedures which mirrored our brother organizations in the USA but catered for Australian rules and regulations, these procedures are still in place today and have helped many Australians gather their certifications at sections and clubs throughout the country.

The person sliding the rocket onto the launcher in this picture is our current ARA Inc vice president Michael Gerlach, Michael with the assistance from model rocket motor manufacturer Aerotech in the USA and a few other rocketry pioneers worked closely with Safework Australia to start legally importing the first high power rocketry motors into Australia. Without these people’s hard work and persistence model rocketry would not be what it is in Australia today !! Thank you guy’s !!
